They have a history which is rich , lustrous and royal in terms of art as this group is 7 centuries old. They took up qawwali 700 years back and generation after generation they been profoundly taking up this legacy to newer world and heights. They belong to a legendary and glorious “Sikandra Gharana” which is been known to have produced some magnificent and stand out singers. Sikandra Gharana has virtue and privileged to have court singers who had been known for their own flavour and style of singing. Belonging to one of the top notch and historic gharana, each time they perform they have affirmed their worth and talent. They are the court singers at Hazrat Nizamiuddin Auliya. There they perform qawwali that are written by Amir Khusro for advocated and tribute to his peer Hazrat Nizamuddin. Late Ustad Mehmood Nizami has been in singing from his budding age.He worked as a court singer in Hyderabad and got recognition in other parts of India. He was honoured by award from first president of free India Dr. Rajendera Prasad “Sultan Nagi”. Late Ustad Ghulam Farid Nizami was accomplished and proficient singer as well as a good poet who had set forth some really profound poems, shayari, ghazals and bhajans. He undoubtedly took the pace and promoted qawwali and other aspects of Indian traditions and culture around the globe. The beats of table, the rhythm of hands and other instruments like kaanch bring the essence and true unnoticed meaning of our life through their qawwali and kalams of some great shayars and specially Amir Khusro’s ghazals which have unmatchable depth in words as well as in meaning. These all toghter represent sufyana style and genre which belongs to the underroots of our heritage culture. They have been performing at almost all prestigious and substantial platforms and cultural programs. Their concerts are held not only in cities and places of India but also in other parts of world which has brought them honor and appreciation for their art and style and immense pride for India. Recently they have performed in “Jaahan-E-Khusro” festival in New Delhi in the year 2003. Also they featured and gave persuit appearance at “Bhakti Ustav” in New Delhi in the year 2003. Also they entertained and mesmerized with their presence in programmes like “Qutub Festival” New Delhi , “Virasat Festival” Dehradun , “Udhayan Music Festival” Mumbai , “ITC Sangeet Research Academy” Kolkata , Spic Macay tour of Gujarat , Rajasthan , Punjab , Guwhati and some other places in India, “International Trade Fair” New Delhi. They have been performing at all the continents around the world and have got appreciation. They have been to USA, France, Canada, Germany, England, Iran, West Indies, Tanzania and Morocco. In recent times they were honoured to perform at Sharad Festival and this year they were prodigies in featuring at “Morocco Festival” which is considered to be one of the biggest festivals at world level. Even after such recognition and featuring at almost every massive stage still they call performing at Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya in front of their Peer to be most crucial performance for them. Qawwali has been lost in alloy of other styles but their attempts are making it live in our hearts and reminds us that what our culture and tradition is. Qawwali is not limited up to one religion, it is for everyone and is a form to remember God and honour God for everything that he graced us with. In 2011 in a blockbuster movie “Rockstar” by Imtiaz Ali qawwali was taken for a part of the movie. For this Imtiaz Ali honoured Nizami Bandhu group whom he admired and hence asked to give appearance in the chartbuster song “kun Faya Kun” which was shooted at Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya. This appearance and recognition was just merely a showcase of how even this form of art can bring some variant to the movie as well as to our life. Nizami Bandhu has been recording qawwali’s and bhajans and Ghazals which are available in audio cassettes, Cd’s , VCD’s to their credit in which they perfomed qawwali and has been applauded by many around the globe. Still they are attributing their efforts not only to promote qawwali but also to spread messages of God through shayri and kalams in their Qawwali because it is not for treat to ears, it is to bring us on track that should be in our life and ethics which are inherited from our ancestral generation and same has to be given to our future generations. Because art has no boundaries and specified time lag, it will prevail for eternity.
